In today’s Ukrainian healthcare system, a patient’s visit to a specialist is often associated with a number of difficulties. First of all, he needs a referral from a family doctor – with the exception of a dentist, gynecologist, psychiatrist, narcologist and phthisiatrician – which delays the process of analyzing the disease and, accordingly, timely adoption of treatment measures. The patient first waits for weeks to see a family doctor, then waits for the same amount of time to see a specialist. In some cases, such a wait is not critical, while in others it can result in a serious deterioration in health.
In addition, the choice of a specialist in the primary health care system of Ukraine is often limited to one or two doctors, and this prevents the patient from choosing a specialist whose professional qualities, in the opinion of the majority, are at a sufficiently high level. That is why the opportunity to visit a specialist with an impeccable reputation and without a long wait – a feature of which is not only a significant deterioration in health, but also a great psychological burden – is becoming relevant in the current Ukrainian realities.
Having extensive expert experience in the field of healthcare, and knowing the professional level of many specialists well, the Health and Mercy Charity Foundation organizes free reception of citizens for prompt and high-quality assistance in cases where a visit to a specialist through the National Health Service system is complicated for various reasons (often objective).
